Hyundai has revealed that it will debut a new fuel cell system along with a new hydrogen car in 2018.

The new fuel cell system will be smaller and use less platinum. It will also be paired with a new electric motor that is smaller and more powerful than previously seen in Hyundais models.

Hyundai’s eco-vehicle development director, Ahn Byung-ki, says that the fuel cell system will appear in a totally new vehicle, and that it will be a crossover between a CUV (crossover-utility-vehicle) and a SUV (sports-utility vehicle).

The Korean car manufacturer will debut its next-generation hydrogen fuel cell system just in time for the Winter Olympics in South Korea in 2018.
