In HyRely, the partners will work with regulatory requirements to document qualification tests for certification purposes, and ensure reliable documentation of quality across the value chain for electrolysis-based hydrogen production.

The goal of the project is to develop a type certification of electrolysis plants (a third-party testing procedure), including qualification testing which includes, but is not limited to, performance testing, qualification testing and verification of safety measures to ensure safety and reliability in hydrogen production using electrolysis.

The project will result in a certification scheme or guidelines for the approval of electrolysis plants that clearly define the types of requirements and tests for the electrolysis plant so that it can be easily linked to a given sector.

The certification scheme, however, must not be limited to supporting only a specific sector (e.g. energy system, green fuels, hydrogen for heating or the transport sector), but broad in scope and valid to support all sector linkages while constituting a stamp of quality for the specific electrolysis plant.
